Led by staff and students within Augsburg University Campus Ministry, Urban Plunge is a faith-based community experience for youth. Using “The Sermon on the Mount” as a biblical theme, we will learn about and explore the gifts and challenges of the Seward/Cedar-Riverside neighborhoods in Minneapolis by connecting with community members. Carpooling together at 6:30pm Friday April 6th, our group will arrive at 7pm at Bethany Lutheran Church, just across the freeway from Augsburg in the Seward neighborhood. The retreat ends at 4 pm on Saturday afternoon at Augsburg. Large group learning activities, and small group conversations dealing with the issues of poverty, immigration and homelessness are all a part of the curriculum and goals for this retreat. We will experience using the lightrail, as well as meeting ethnically and economically diverse populations within Minneapolis.
